Tracheostomy Tube Cuff and Speaking

Postby curiousgeorge » Mon Dec 07, 2015 1:57 am

My relative is on continuous tracheostomy ventilation (CTMV). What is the best speaking valve/airway delivery system to permit him to speak?

Anyone who is capable of speaking should not need a tube in the first place. Rather than waste time facilitating speech while using CTMV with an inflated cuff that will ultimately damage the trachea and can be lethal by perforating the trachea, be evaluated by a "Center for Noninvasive Respiratory Management" for decanulation.
