If the O2 sat is normal, any pneumonia may not be particularly dangerous if one is receiving antibiotics, so most patients can remain at home and receive optimal care by having adequate home support for using MIE aggressively and often rather than be in a hospital where MIE may be discontinued, O2 delivered, and consequently respiratory failure may follow.

If hospitalized, unless intubated, one’s care providers must continue to follow the oximetry feedback protocol with NVS and MIE, since hospital personal neither have the time nor generally the expertise to do so.
