2 1/2 year old, swallowing issues, daily suctioning

Postby curiousgeorge » Thu Jul 28, 2016 3:49 pm

Asked by a parent:

Hi Dr Bach! I was hoping to chat with you again about my son's bipap settings and his need for cough assist. We have had no luck getting approval for a cough assist yet (son is 2.5 years old, swallowing issues and needs to be suctioned orally) So i was hoping to get some resources from you to use for my next appointment with our Respirologist. We are from Vancouver Island, BC! I took some photos of his chest as he has pectus excavatum and I also have a video I can send of him breathing on the bipap. Thanks for your time!

I do not know the rules in B.C. but if you look on http://www.breatheNVS.com Dr. Douglas McKim or the other specialists from the NVS centers in Canada (Montreal, Quebec) may be able to answer it. In the U.S. all patients with neuromuscular diseases get CoughAssists paid for by our government or insurance. You might also buy one second hand on Craig's list or Ebay.
